Sourrounding Areas Around Wickenburg:

Morristown
Morristown is still a very small unincorporated town with very little in the way of retail services. Wickenburg is just 9 miles to the west so residents of Morristown will frequently make the trip down Hwy 60, which is an easy to travel divided highway. The location of Morristown is significant in a number of ways. The Hassayampa river flows down from Wickenburg passing along the edge of Morristown, it is at this location that the river runs out into the flats, and the mountains pretty well come to an end. Morristown is also the location where Hwy 74 joins up with Hwy 60, and where Castle Hot Springs road takes off north in the Bradshaw Mountains. Morristown is essentially at the point where you are officially leaving the valley that includes Phoenix and all its suburbs. As Surprise, Sun City and Wittmann grow like crazy toward Morristown the distance into the city is definitely shrinking. Currently it only takes about 20 minutes to get to most all the major services of the big city.

There are some expanses of privately held land on the valley side of Morristown, but other than that most of Morristown is surrounded by public land. Morristown has a number of large custom homes, and ranches on acreage that are reminiscent of what is found in Wickenburg, but unlike Wickenburg the Morristown area does allow manufactured homes, so there are areas that have been subdivided down the minimum size of 1 acre, where there are a number of new manufactured homes.

CONGRESS
Congress is located 12 miles east of Wickenburg at the junction of Highways 71 and 89 in Yavapai County. Early Congress history had its beginnings with the gold mine discovered in 1884 by Dennis May. The old town was in two parts with the mine in "Mill town" and the residences and businesses in "Lower town". The railroad passed 3 miles from the mine at what became known as Congress Junction. After the mining boom had long past, the town developed at the junction. Today new subdivisions and commerce have brought a new boom to Congress complete with new post office, school, fire department and library.

AGUILA
Aguila is located 20 miles west of Wickenburg on Highway 60. The name is Spanish for the Eagle Eye Mountain that serves as a back drop for the community. The valley lies between the Harquahala and Harcuvar mountains and its fertile soil hold boasting rights to the world's best cantaloupes. Robson's Mining World is a recreation of an 1800 mining town and includes a museum, restaurant, hotel, and the world's largest collection of antique mining equipment. Clean air and flat terrain made Aguila a natural place for two airport subdivisions where residents can taxi their planes to the front door. Aguila is on the western edge of Maricopa county and has a branch library, post office and its own elementary school.
